WEEKLY REPORT OF THE SECOND PHASE OF TEACHING PRACTISE- SEVENTH WEEK

Image
Seven weeks of eventful teaching practise has come to an end. What a significant journey it has been!  More than being a teacher to my IX A students, I have been a student too all along, learning a lot about them and me. It hasn't been an easy one and things were never achieved in one fell swoop. It took efforts and patience to get things done. But at the end, I feel that everything was worth it.  The second week included two public holidays and to compensate, Saturday was a working day with Thursday's timetable at school. On Monday, 15thof August, India celebrated its 75th Independence Day. Celebrations were held at the school too. On Tuesday, I completed the poem Song of the Rain in IX std and continued with the chapter The Little Round Red House in VIII std.  I have also taught the students the concept of Adjective in an innovative way using PPT, as a part of my Action Research. I was happy to see my efforts turning fruitful when the students showed much interest...

The penultimate week of teaching practise has also passed by in a good way. So many things has already been done and I am happy for all the experiences that has come my way so far. The week has been a happening one for many reasons. On Monday, I have completed the chapter, Tolstoy Farm on Monday. Tuesday was a public holiday. On Wednesday, we had PTA meeting at school from noon time onwards.  T hough I missed my class, it was a good experience too. While teachers were meeting the parents, we were given the discipline duty of ninth standard. We engaged them in certain activities like dumb charades and some of them also sang. Some of the parents even came up to us and spoke about the academic performance of their children. On Wednesday, I started a new poem titles Song of the Rain by Khalil Gibran. Jijan sir came to observe the class. He sat almost throughout the class and gave feedback thereafter. An awareness class on conserving water resources was conducted by the Jal Geevan Miss...

The education field also wasn't spared from its wrath, as holidays were announced on two days by the district collector, owing to the heavy rains in the district. But it could not kill our spirits. The week has also happily passsed by. Even though there were only three working days, we were given substitution hours to make up for the lost classes. By the end of the week, heavy rain has also stopped. I have started the next chapter Tolstoy Farm on Monday and have almost completed it by Friday. A few more paragraphs and activities has to be completed in the following week. I have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying all the experiences and learnings that are coming my way through the teaching practise phase. On Monday, I have started the lesson Tolstoy Farm and completed a small portion. I personally believe that it is one of the chapters that the student should understand well, as the...
