WEEKLY REPORT OF THE SECOND PHASE OF TEACHING PRACTISE- FIFTH WEEK
The past week has seen heavy rains all through Kerala, that too creating much havoc in many places. The education field also wasn't spared from its wrath, as holidays were announced on two days by the district collector, owing to the heavy rains in the district. But it could not kill our spirits. The week has also happily passsed by. Even though there were only three working days, we were given substitution hours to make up for the lost classes. By the end of the week, heavy rain has also stopped. I have started the next chapter Tolstoy Farm on Monday and have almost completed it by Friday. A few more paragraphs and activities has to be completed in the following week. I have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying all the experiences and learnings that are coming my way through the teaching practise phase.
On Monday, I have started the lesson Tolstoy Farm and completed a small portion. I personally believe that it is one of the chapters that the student should understand well, as there is much about Gandhi's views on education, vocational education and dignity of labour in it. I used PPT to make them show the Tolstoy Farm and used video to show them how it looks now. I have also distributed the answer sheets and gave the mark list to the concerned teacher.
Due to heavy rains, the district collector announced holiday on Tuesday and Wednesday for all educational institutions and hence there were no classes on these days.
After two days, on Thursday all were back at school. Jijan sir has send the link to join for Google meet in the morning itself, as he wanted to watch our classes online. My peers, Leya and Georgeena helped to stream the class online. Jijan sir gave the feedback and comments, which would help me to improve in days to come. I got another hour in the same class that day and I taught them reported speech again, as I found through the test that many had difficulty in converting sentences from direct to indirect speech. On Friday again I got extra hours and it helped me to make up for my lost classes in the previous days.
