WEEKLY REPORT OF THE SECOND PHASE OF TEACHING PRACTISE- SEVENTH WEEK
Seven weeks of eventful teaching practise has come to an end. What a significant journey it has been! More than being a teacher to my IX A students, I have been a student too all along, learning a lot about them and me. It hasn't been an easy one and things were never achieved in one fell swoop. It took efforts and patience to get things done. But at the end, I feel that everything was worth it.
The second week included two public holidays and to compensate, Saturday was a working day with Thursday's timetable at school. On Monday, 15thof August, India celebrated its 75th Independence Day. Celebrations were held at the school too. On Tuesday, I completed the poem Song of the Rain in IX std and continued with the chapter The Little Round Red House in VIII std. I have also taught the students the concept of Adjective in an innovative way using PPT, as a part of my Action Research. I was happy to see my efforts turning fruitful when the students showed much interest in learning it and also correctly doing the worksheet given. I also told them about the test on Friday, for which they have to start their preparations. I got free hours in both the classes and I conducted handwriting competitions for them. The took time and effort to participate well.
In the next day, I taught them Noun Phrase and Verb Phrase. Since they were thorough in identifying noun and verb in a sentence, they wasn't much hassle and I used Advanced Organizer Model to teach the same. I made them do the textual activities and found time to teach them adverb as a part of my action research, I was happy at the response I got from the worksheet. I also gave them heads up about the test day after. Meanwhile in std VIII, I have almost completed The Little Round Red House and only a small portion was remaining.
Friday was an important day as I conducted achievement test for them. After the test, I gave a small gift to three of the students, who were declared the winners of the handwriting competition. Similarly, in the VIII A too, I selected two winners and gave them gifts. I have also completed my portions in the class and with that I have completed all the 30 Lesson Plans and I felt happy and grateful, at the same time. However, I went to school Saturday too. Going to school has become a routine for the past one month and more and I couldn't help, but go to school for Saturday too to bid a goodbye one last time. I gave the students the post test, which was the last step of my action plan and my data collection got over. I revised the portion with them too. We bid goodbye to all the teachers, non teaching staffs and students of our school. The good words from the students made me happy and contented.
I am thankful to all the good forces and people who stood beside me for the successful completion of the practise, be it our Rejani teacher, the students or my own peers, Georgeena and Leya, for all the support. So many things were done and learnt. This was one lifetime of an experience and all I can say is " I didn't come this far to only come this far".
