WEEKLY REPORT OF THE SECOND PHASE OF TEACHING PRACTISE- FOURTH WEEK

Image
The fourth week has also blissfully passed by. The week was wholly dedicated for mid term exams in school. All the high school students had two exams per day, from Monday to Friday, this week. Therefore I did not get classes with the IX standard students this week. Many new experiences have come my way in the form of invigilation duty and paper correction. I have happily welcomed these experiences and learnt that lesson that invigilation duty is not an easy task. The students of all the three classes were mixed up and was given seating arrangement accordingly.  It was the duty of teacher trainees to distribute the question papers in each class. After doing this, we were assigned a class each for invigilation duty. I had invigilation on all days, except for an exam on Friday. Each day we were given different classes to invigilate. I was also assigned the duty to correct the English answer sheets of the students of IX A class. Correcting the answer sheets helped me to understan...

Third week was one of the most happening of the weeks, with so much things happening in the school. I was glad that I could participate in such functions in school. I continued with my classes in the ninth standard. Lesson plans and moving in a good pace and I administered diagnostic test on Friday. The link to diagnostic test is  https://drive.google.com/file/d/135ZBBcuqojiqtapRqPbxVj9pYw4LnfFk/view?usp=sharing .  On Tuesday, the Vidyarangam Kala-Sahitya vedi inauguration happened in the school auditorium. The poet Arun Kumar was the chief guest of the day. All the students of class eight, nine and ten along with the teachers and the non teaching staffs of the school attended. I was glad that I could be a part of it. On Wednesday, an educational strike was announced by KSU in Kollam district. I went to school as usual and signed. Students also came to school anyway, but the strike holders came and asked to let the students go to their homes. The day was rather dull as there w...

WEEKLY REPORT OF THE SECOND PHASE OF TEACHING PRACTISE- SECOND WEEK

Image
The second week of teaching practise was also a wholesome experience for me. What a privilege it is to be in a school, standing in front of some thirty students and teach them the well prepared lessons. The second week passed by, giving experiences to learn from and memories to cherish forever. I got more accustomed to the students of IX A, for whom I take classes. The first chapter of unit 1, Maternity was completed along with grammar portions and I started a poem titled, Song of a Dream by Sarojini Naidu. The second week was all about gelling well with the students. I got to know them more, understood what interests them, identified that they need more reading and writing practises. I also learnt a bit more about the good use of teaching aids in class. I tries using activity cards, placards in class, with a view to make leaning more interesting. Classroom management is also not an easy task at all. Dealing a class of thirty students, of thirty different kinds is a task in itself. I ...

WEEKLY REPORT OF THE SECOND PHASE OF TEACHING PRACTISE- FIRST WEEK

Image
It was a good thing to be be back at Govt PVHSS, Perumkulam school again, for the second phase of teaching practise on 4th of July, 2022. This time I was allotted the ninth standard English portions and 9A was the assigned class. Thankfully, classes have started in a full fledged manner after all the Covid setbacks.  On the first day, I reached the school on time and met the principal and the concerned English teacher, Rejani teacher, who gave me the timetable and the necessary instructions. I have one hour each on every working day to take classes for the 9 standard students. I started off with the first lesson of Unit 2, Maternity on the very first day. It is an anecdote about the sad plight of refugee children. I got one more hour as substitution on the same day. On the second day, I continued with the lesson and it was a good experience in class watching them do the activities given with enthusiasm. A special programme named, Save Chenkurinji Campaign was conducted in the...
