Teaching Practice- Day 10- 25/01/2022

This was my first experience in online teaching and I was much anxious and excited about how the class would turn out. The class was at 6 PM and most of the students turned up for the class. It was for the first time that I got all the 8 standard students together for the class, since they were divided into bubbles for the offline class. I was ready with the power point presentation and after a brief time of creating rapport with them online, I started the class. To my surprise, the students were attentive and the class was very interactive due to their co-operation. It was a pleasant experience. The children remained engaged and they effectively used chat box also to reply to my questions and interact with me. The class was for one hour and it ended at  7 PM. This was a worthy experience and I am happy that I got the students both in online and offline mode for the teaching practice.

Due to Covid restrictions classes will be conducted online here after. So from the next day onwards, we are supposed to take online classes. Today, many students in the schools took vaccine in the schools itself, as facilities were arranged there. In the first hour, I had exam invigilation duty and in the second and third hours, I had taken classes for two different bubble of 8 standard students.

Today was indeed a special day for school as it was the inauguration of the drinking water project and the globe installation day. Both of these were sponsored by the 1994 SSLC batch of the school. I was able to take two hours for the eight standard students today and I continued with the poem My Grandmother's House.

Teaching Practice- Day 3- 12/01/2022

The third day happened to wholesome, for new experiences have come my way. I reached the school on time. After the prayer session, I was directed to the eighth standard class where I was supposed to invigilate. From writing the questions on the black board to being with the students for one hour in the exam hall, was a new experience for me. In the second hour also, I was in the exam hall for exam duty. In the third hour, I took class for the eight standard students. Thus, the day was well spent.

The second day passed by in a very gentle way. Although a state-wide education strike was organized on this day, a few students came to school. After the prayer meeting, we sat in the allotted room. Since I did not have classes today, the time was utilized to prepare my presentations.

After  much of jitters and excitement, this day marks the beginning of my teaching practice at Govt PVHSS, Perumkulam. The principal and the teachers gave the necessary instructions and made my first day in school comfortable in all ways possible. The prayer meeting was done and we trainees were instructed to sit in a room. At 12 PM, I was asked to take classes for 8 standard students. I was asked to take the poem  My Grandmother's House for them. After an informal interaction with the students, a brief introduction to the poet was also given in the first class. All the students responded well, while they were inquired about their own grandparents and about the values of caring and sharing. The first day at school would always be remembered as a special one.
